About Lisse
Lisse describes her parents' political leanings as "big on the Kennedys." Her mother says Lisse developed a sense of social justice early in life, reading biographies and admiring Eleanor Roosevelt, whom Lisse's grandmother once met at a social function. Lisse grew up in New Jersey and Connecticut, but couldn't wait to move to Boston to attend college. Once there she participated in several political campaigns and helped found a campus chapter of Amnesty International. She became an English major for the writing training, but her favorite classes were all in PolySci. While subsisting on a publishing career, Lisse became interested in educational technology, and returned to grad school to learn how to do it right. She is now an Instructional Design consultant and an eLearning specialist.
She was raised Catholic and attended some Catholic schools, but chose the Episcopal Church for her own family, seeking a place where imperfect children, and unanswered questions, were accepted with grace. Lisse lives in Massachusetts with her husband and sons aged 5 & 6. She also writes the blog @ Home in the World about adopting her sons from Russia and how travel has expanded her worldview.
